CBS Sacks Anchors is Chicago
FTVLive reported that CBS was looking to make cuts at the O&O’s and it didn’t take long for our prediction to come true.
CBS O&O WBBM in Chicago has push Anchors Rob Johnson and Marissa Bailey to the curb and then said, “We thank them for their professionalism and contributions to CBS 2 and we wish them well.”
The station is shaking up their anchor team yet again, which is sort of like moving deck chairs around on the Titanic.
Brad Edwards will join Irika Sargent as co-anchor on the evening newscasts and Mike Puccinelli joining Erin Kennedy on morning news. That will last, until the station makes more changes and they are pushed to the exit.
For her part, Bailey took the high road and knows that it is all part of the business. “It’s been a great eight years at CBS Chicago and in the most amazing city in the country,” Bailey said. “I took a leap of faith coming here, and it was the best decision I ever made. I’ve been lucky to go from a general assignment reporter to sitting on the anchor desk every morning with colleagues and friends. I’ve had the honor of meeting amazing people, telling their stories and, most importantly, working alongside the best, most fun and professional staff and crew out there.
“For now, I’m going to enjoy staying up past 7:30 p.m., sleeping in and eating breakfast with my little guy Beau . . . until I start the next chapter.”
Any station would be lucky to have her.
This is not the last of the cuts made at CBS O&O’s, that we can assure you.
