Change at the Top Coming to NBC O&O
An all hands on deck meeting was called at NBC’s O&O in Boston.
It appears that NBC Boston General Manager Mike St. Peter is leaving the station in 2020 and the company has already named his replacement.
The station has named Chris Wayland the Senior Vice President and Station Manager.

Dear Colleagues,
I am pleased to announce that Chris Wayland is joining our team as Senior Vice President and Station Manager of NBC10, Telemundo Boston and necn. He will oversee our stations’ sales, finance, marketing, and digital departments, and report directly to me.
With Chris taking on this new role, I will oversee our news, programming, community affairs, operations and engineering departments, as well as the build-out of our new media center.
Chris is an excellent leader. He has extensive experience working in the Boston market, and will help our team achieve new milestones.

NBC10, Telemundo Boston and necn today announced Chris Wayland has been named Senior Vice President and Station Manager. Wayland will oversee the sales, finance, marketing, and digital departments for all three stations. He will report to Mike St. Peter, President and General Manager of NBC10, Telemundo Boston, and necn.

His experience and deep familiarity with the Boston market will help our team achieve new milestones and remain competitive in the marketplace,” added St. Peter. “I look forward to working with him and seeing the great work he’ll do with our teams.”
Wayland joins NBCUniversal’s Boston stations from WPIX-TV in New York where he worked as Senior Vice President, General Manager. At WPIX, he revamped the station’s digital/social, graphics and sales operations, and helped the station to significantly increase its revenue and ratings. Prior to this, Wayland worked at Tribune Media as Vice President of Group Operations, overseeing the group’s stations and helping to increase their revenue.

Prior to his work at Tribune, Wayland worked for Sunbeam Television for nearly 10 years and held numerous roles with increasing responsibility including Executive Vice President and General Manager of WHDH/WLVI in Boston, and WSVN in Miami, and General Station Manager and General Sales Manager of WHDH in Boston. At Sunbeam, he helped the Boston and Miami stations improve their revenue and market ratings positioning while executing long-term plans that helped each station embrace new technologies and platforms for local storytelling. He launched his career at WLVI-TV in Boston more than 20 years ago, and completed his undergraduate degree at Elmira College in New York. Wayland resides in Boston with his family.
