Sweeping Up in Milwaukee

WISN appears to be the big winner in the Milwaukee ratings.

The Journal-Sentinel says that according to Nielsen data provided by local television stations, WISN's 5 p.m. news had a household rating of 6.8, roughly translating to 56,833 households.

The station's 6 p.m. newscast had a 6.7 rating, and its 10 p.m. news had a 5.6 rating.

WISN also had the top newscasts at 5p.m, with WITI leading at 10 p.m.

The most-watched newscast in Milwaukee in the "sweeps" period wasn't a local newscast.

ABC's "World News Tonight," which airs on WISN, had an 8.2 household rating. "NBC Nightly News," on WTMJ had a 5.7 rating.

In Nielsen's numbers, WISN's 6.8 rating led among 5 p.m. local newscasts, followed by WITI with a 4.0 rating, WTMJ with a 3.8, and WDJT-TV (Channel 58) with a 3.4.

At 6 p.m., WISN was followed by WTMJ with a 4.5 rating and WITI with a 4.1. (WDJT's airing of "Jeopardy!" typically beats the three local newscasts at 6 p.m.)

Among 9 p.m. newscasts, WITI dominated with a 4.8 rating. WDJT's newscast airing on WMLW-TV (Channel 49) had a 1.3 rating, and WISN's 9 p.m. newscast on Justice Milwaukee, Channel 12.2, had a 0.5.

At 10 p.m., after WISN, WITI followed with a 4.7 rating, while WTMJ had a 3.9 and WDJT had a 3.4.
