The Waiting Game
Back in August, FTVLive told you that KDVR/KWGN (Denver) Reporter Zora Stephenson was leaving the station to head to Milwaukee to be the Milwaukee Bucks Sideline Reporter.
Stephenson left the station in September but is still listed on the station’s website.
Insiders say they think because the Denver station is lacking in diversity hires, leaving Stephenson’s bio (she is African American) up makes the station look less Lilly white.
Sources tell FTVLive that Stephenson’s replacement has been hired, but has yet to start at the station.
Insiders tell FTVLive that News Director Brian Gregory once again went back to his old stomping grounds in Kansas to make another hire.
Word is that KWCH (Wichita) Anchor/Reporter Rachel Skytta will be joining KDVR/KWGN at some point and time. Sources say that Gregory brought her into KDVR for a tour and meet-n-greet with the staff at the end of August and she is expected to join the station when her deal with KWCH expires.
As you can see by her picture, Skytta is a blond female and looking at the station’s bio page, she should fit in quite nicely.
Nothing against Skytta, but I’m sorry, this station needs to do better with their on-air diversity hires.
Also, leaving the bio up of a Black Reporter that left months ago does not count.
Just saying….
