Another Reporter Arrested
It appears to have become a trend as another Reporter is arrested for DUI.
Cops clamped the cuffs on WEVV (Evansville) Reporter Veronica DeKett charged with two counts of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated after she was pulled over after a night of drinking.
A police officer was following her around 12:50 a.m. Sunday when she quickly accelerated stoplight turned green, according to an affidavit from the Evansville Police Department. The tires on her vehicle squealed.
She then started driving at more than 50 mph and was weaving from side-to-side, according to the affidavit.
The sergeant said she smelled of alcohol, her eyes were glassy and her speech slurred. She reportedly said she drank three vodka sodas while barhopping in Haynie's Corner.
DeKett failed several roadside tests, according to the affidavit. Police said she was belligerent and argumentative at times.
She was administered a portable breath test and registered a 0.19. A second test at the jail gave the same result.
