Anchor Goes with Natural Hair on Air

It has become a big topic for black female journalists when it comes to their hair.

Many black females rely on wigs, weaves, or hair straighteners before going on air.

But now, many are deciding to go on air with their natural hair and it is not an easy decision.

Brianna Hamblin, 23, a journalist at WCAV in Charlottesville, Va. says that before going on-air she would straightened her hair or had worn wigs and weaves. She said that the styles were time-consuming and costly on an entry-level salary.

So, she decided to go “natural” and posted about the courage it took to make that move.

While this might seem like a small deal to some, for black females this is a big leap. Often bosses will say “what did you do to your hair?” It’s what they didn’t do and good for them for making that choice.

We think Hamblin looks great and the bottom line, if she’s happy that should be all that counts.

Your hair is your hair, you should be able to do what you want with it.

Props to Brianna Hamblin for making this move.
