Matt Lauer penned an open letter disputing the charges that former NBC staffer Brooke Nevils made against him in Ronan Farrow’s book Catch and Kill.

Now, it appears that Lauer is moving closer to telling his side of the story on air.

Lauer contacted radio host and Mediate Columnist John Ziegler to start telling his story.

Ziegler flew from LA to New York to meet up with Lauer, but there were strong ground rules. He says, “our agreement was that I could characterize the meeting, and we would take a photo documenting it, though the contents of our conversation would not be on the record.”

Ziegler admits that he and “has somehow become known for defending public figures” so, it appears that Lauer is looking for a sympathetic ear and that he has found one.

Ziegler writes about the book Catch and Kill, “much of what Farrow has reported about Lauer would never have been allowed in a book by a reputable publisher. Frankly, in any other context, Farrow’s reporting on Lauer is shockingly lacking in basic journalistic standards and reads more like that of a tabloid publication.”

He also seems to believe Lauer when it comes to his denials. He writes, “While Lauer wrote a detailed public letter with his side of the story, there is more to it which I am not currently at liberty to divulge. I will say that hearing him tell his perspective in detail is extremely persuasive, especially when I get him to react in real time to details in the book, of which he apparently had no previous knowledge. I have read the book carefully and seen all of Farrow’s public comments, and yet find Lauer’s version to be very credible, especially since he is willing to admit to making numerous serious mistakes, and because his overall narrative makes a lot of sense, especially once you understand the timeline and the clear motivations of all the players who involved here.”

It sounds like Lauer has at least been able to bring one person over to his side in Ziegler. But then again, that might not have been a hard thing to do.

You look at Ziegler’s latest tweet and it appears that he also thinks that former Penn State football coach Jerry Sandusky is also innocent.

It is here that we should point out that Sandusky is likely going to die in prison. So, the idea that he is spending his last dime to get out is not shocking or surprising at all.

I don’t know if Matt Lauer is going to tell his story on air, but if he tells it to Ziegler, it will sort of have that Donald Trump talking to Sean Hannity feel to it.
