Station Looks to Hire the First Multicultural Television Reporter

In a perfect news world, you would hope that this the job that every TV Reporter does.

But, WISH in Indianapolis has posted a new job listing and they are looking to to hire the state’s first-ever television reporter dedicated exclusively to covering multicultural issues within the Indiana community.

WISH GM Randy Ingram says, “Our new reporter will share previously untold stories of the many distinct cultures and ethnic groups who make up our ever-growing, diverse community.” “This dedicated focus to multicultural reporting will give a voice to the communities, traditions, and issues currently not being covered by other Indiana television stations.”

The station says that WISH’s multicultural reporter will focus on news and issues of concern to women, millennials, Hispanics and Latinos, African Americans, Asian Americans, Middle Eastern Americans, Native Americans, and the LGBTQ community, to name a few.

One one hand we applaud the station, but on the other hand, shouldn’t this issues already being covered by the Reporters you have?

Just asking…
