Rochester Weatherman is Fired
WHEC Weatherman Jeremy Kappell has been fired.
Yesterday, FTVLive told you that, while talking over some video of people skating in a park, Kappell said "Martin Luther coon King park."
Shortly after FTVLive posted the story, the station announced that they had fired Kappell.
Kappell spent all night on his social media, not apologizing, but lashing out.
He took issue with USA Today:
He took issue with the GM of the station:
He thinks Martin Luther King’s name should be changed:
And played the victim:
Kappell then went on to say that many others have made the same mistake and kept linking to a story in which ESPN’s Mike Greenberg said the same words and did not get fired.
Someone needs to explain to Jeremy Kappell that two wrongs don’t make it right. Instead of pointing fingers, Kappell would be best to saying he is sorry and saying over and over again.
As a former News Director, I for one would never hire this guy again. Mistakes happen and I make mistakes each and everyday. But, this guy is just pointing fingers and saying “he did it to!”
Then again, Kappell sounds very much like someone else who is in the news a lot.
I wonder if Jeremy Kappell owns a MAGA hat?
I’m sorry, but I think the TV news industry is better off without this guy.
But that’s just my opinion.
