Pushed Out in DC
FTVLive was the FIRST to tell you yesterday that people were getting kicked to the curb at Sinclair’s WJLA in DC.
Word is that people were called into meet with General Manager Dan Mellon and a rep from HR. The station is still without a News Director, since Mitch Jacob left the station back in November of last year.
Sources tell FTVLive that Morning EP Thomas Tobin and Night side EP Lauren Stauffer were told their services were no longer needed.
Longtime Reporter Steven Tschida (joined the station in 2002) and Reporter Rich Reeve were also told they were being kicked to the curb.
You can also add longtime Production Supervisor Lori Johnson to the list.
Word is that morale at the Sinclair station is at an all time low and news ratings are absolutely awful.
“We used to run 10-15 + 12-18 photogs/truck ops on the dayside shift. Now we are averaging seven reporters, 5-7 photogs and that was before today's layoffs”, said one WJLA staffer to FTVLive.
We hear that the station is this/close to naming a new News Director and that WJLA wanted to get the firings out of the way, before the new ND took over.
Stay tuned…
