From Local to Network

KOAT (Albuquerque) Reporter Will Carr made the jump from local TV to the network and his old station did a story about him and his new network gig.

Carr says it was a seamless transition for as he left KOAT News and landed a job as a ABC network correspondent based in Los Angeles.

His workday or workweek is based on wherever the story takes him. Lately, that's meant traveling to some of the biggest headlines of the year, from live shots on "Good Morning America" to reporting for "World News Tonight."

The unique skills it takes to tell a story under extreme pressure is something he said KOAT helped prepare him for.

He said his most memorable story so far has been reporting from near the erupting Kilauea Volcano in Hawaii.

When it's busy, he travels about 80 to 90 percent of the time. When he does get a break, he said fond memories of New Mexico still bring him back about once a year.

“It really is the Land of Enchantment, and I had an amazing time when I was there,” Carr said.

You can watch the story that includes a very long ad on the front of it at KOAT’s website.
