BREAKING! Bumped Up at Tribune

It looks like KTLA News Director Jason Ball has added a new title to his resume. According to an internal email obtained by FTVLive, Ball will continue on as News Director at the LA station, but will also be the Vice President of Content Development for Tribune Broadcasting.

Not sure what the Vice President of Content Development for Tribune Broadcasting does, but hopefully it came with a raise. No word on what happens when Tribune sells itself off?

The promotion was big enough, that it took two people to announce it.

Here is the internal email:

It gives us great pleasure to announce that, in addition to his continuing as VP/News Director at KTLA, Jason Ball will be taking on additional corporate responsibilities as Vice President of Content Development for Tribune Broadcasting.

In nearly a decade running Southern California’s #1 news operation, Jason has led KTLA to unprecedented growth in ratings and recognition through quality journalism, compelling coverage, strategic expansion and innovation across all platforms. Jason and his team have done a terrific job creating high quality original linear and non-linear content for platforms other than traditional broadcast and we're excited to have his help executing Tribune’s strategy.

As part of his expanded duties Jason will take point on group-wide editorial initiatives and create best practices around the production of original video and audio content for all platforms including OTT, connected devices, streaming services and audio podcasting.

In this role Jason will collaborate with our news directors, digital team, GMs and corporate leadership to maximize content, distribution and revenue opportunities. Non-traditional platforms are obviously a critical area for growth and having a leader of Jason’s caliber to help us prioritize and focus appropriate resources in this area will strengthen our connection with our communities and increase Tribune’s competitive advantage in our markets.

Congrats Jason!
