Back in the Chair
FTVLive told you yesterday evening that Scripps owned KNXV had named a new News Director.
The company said that did a “nationwide search” only to find their next ND right in the neighborhood.
The station named Mark Casey as their new news boss. Casey spent years at KPNX in Phoenix until he was pushed out the door with a Tegna buyout back in 2016.
“Mark is a proven leader with deep ties to our community,” said ABC15 Arizona vice-president and general manager Anita Helt. “Mark’s vision and commitment to serving the people of Arizona with the highest level of journalistic integrity on all platforms make him the perfect choice to lead our talented team.”
On a side note, back when FTVLive was just breaking into the business, I was a stringer for WKBW in Buffalo, shooting fires, car accidents and other blood and guts. The Assignment Editor was a high strung guy named Mark Casey.
Casey would call me screaming into the phone that I needed to get to a house fire and do it like now!
Years later when I became a News Director in Sacramento, I ran into Mark Casey on the floor of a convention, he was in Dayton at the time.
I said “hi” and it was obvious that he didn’t have a clue as to who I was and to this day, I still think he has no clue who I am?
What can I say?
I have that effect on people.
