Giving the Lady a Shot?
CBS news show 60 Minutes has had two Executive Producers in its history. Don Hewitt was the original EP. When he retired the job went to Jeff Fager.
Fager was ousted from 60 Minutes and now the shows third EP needs to be named and it might go to a woman.
Word is that Susan Zirinsky, often referred to by her co-workers as “Z” might be the next EP of CBS’s iconic show.
She has been at CBS since 1972 and currently oversees the show“48 Hours.” She has also supervised award-winning documentaries and breaking news specials.
She even served as the inspiration for Holly Hunter’s high-standards news producer in the 1987 film “Broadcast News.”
Having Zirinsky at the top of CBS News’ most revered program could solve some issues for CBS News president David Rhodes.
It would be the right move for CBS to put a woman in the top ranks of the news division.
Hopefully, they will be smart enough to do it.
