Sinclair Responds to Weatherman's Comments
Yesterday, FTVLive told you that WSYX Weatherman Marshall McPeek was an emcee at the annual convention for the National LGBTQ Journalists Association (NLGJA) in Palm Springs.
McPeek addressed the audience by saying “Ladies and gentlemen, things and its,” disparaging trans and non-binary attendees.
His comment offended many LGBTQ media professionals in attendance.
Now, WSYX (Columbus) General Manager Tony D'Angelo is weighing in on what his employee said.
D'Angelo condemned McPeek's comments "to the highest degree," calling them "hurtful and offensive."
"Marshall’s comments in no way reflect the values of Sinclair Broadcast Group," D'Angelo said in a statement emailed to NBC News. "We are an inclusive workplace that prides itself on all employees feeling comfortable and welcome. Sinclair has supported the important work of NLGJA and its member journalists and we were saddened by his comments."
No word if they are disciplining McPeek for his comments, but firing this guy seems like a good option.
But hey, that’s just our opinion.
