Big Loss in the Bay Area
From time to time FTVLive has featured stories from KRON (San Francisco) Reporter Stanley Roberts and his segment called "People Behaving Badly."
Roberts worked often as an MMJ and his segment is one of the most popular segments on San Francisco TV. But after two decades Roberts is leaving the Nexstar station and headed to the Valley of the Sun.
The big question is why would Nexstar let Roberts and this huge brand leave?
Although, no one is talking this has to be about money. Roberts shot, wrote and reported must watch stories and drove more traffic to KRON's website than anyone else in the station. His YouTube Channel is garnered almost 90 million views.
Roberts is that rare Reporter that can drive viewers to a newscast and now he's taking his talents to KPHO in Phoenix. It is clear that Nexstar's KRON does not understand that losing a character like Roberts is a short sighted move that will cost and already hurting station.
Station insiders tell FTVLive that Roberts made the decision to leave KRON, but it is not one that he wanted to make. He has lived in the Bay Area for years and knew just about everyone. The cops in San Francisco loved him along with the mayor.
Now, he leaves for KPHO and has to build his brand from scratch, which is no easy task. Sources say it will be called something else besides "People Behaving Badly" when he gets to Arizona.
Here is the internal memo sent out by KRON News Director Aaron Pero anouncing the move and announcing a very short sighted mistake by the Nexstar station:

Subject: Stanley Roberts
It is with great regret that we announce that Stanley Roberts is leaving us. Stanley is headed to Phoenix on a new adventure. The People Behaving Badly segment has been a part of KRON4 since 2006 and Stanley has been here since 1998 when he started as a staff photographer.
He has covered many amazing stories that have gone viral during his time on the People Behaving Badly beat. Those stories will be greatly missed along with his personality in the newsroom.
Stanley will be here for a few more weeks. Please make sure to spend some time with him before he goes.
We wish Stanley well and we will all see him on Social Media.
