Stepping Down in St. Louis
You can stick a fork in KTVI/KPLR General Manager Spencer Koch, he's done.
Tribune announced that Koch is retiring from the television stations on Oct. 1.
Larry Wert, president of Tribune Media’s local broadcasting operations, announced the news in an email to staff Monday, calling his departure “a big loss for Tribune and the stations.”
“Under his leadership, Spencer has built a top-notch team, with a focus on content and community,” Wert’s email said.
Koch, 67, has worked at KTVI, a Fox affiliate, for 23 years. Koch also is general manager at KPLR , a CW affiliate. During his tenure, Koch oversaw KTVI’s switch from an ABC to a FOX affiliate and increased local news at both stations.
“We’ve had so much going on over the years,” Koch said. “Like anything, I felt the time was right to go to another chapter with my family.”
“She’s been an integral part of our success,” Koch said of his wife Laura. “We’re looking forward to our new freedom. We’ve had a wonderful time working at KTVI and KPLR. It’s been a great experience.”
