Scripps Pushes Out Very Popular Anchor
WCPO Anchor Kathrine Nero says that she was blindsided when the Scripps station decided to kick her to the curb mid contract.
"I was in the middle of a contract. It was a three-year contact. I had a year to go. They decided to exercise their option. This was not my decision," Nero said.
She posted the news to her Facebook page and in the first 12 hours, over 1500 people left comments about their disappointment and shock that this happened.
"She is beloved in the community," one viewer said to FTVLIve in an email.
It is a good bet that this was nothing more than a money move. Scripps has been trying to dump high priced talent for quite awhile now and the company has undergone a number of layoffs.
But, getting rid of such a popular Anchor seems like such a bad move that even viewers can believe they did it.
"What the hell are they thinking? I will never watch that station again!" said another viewer to FTVLive.
Judging by the comments on Nero's social media, this is going to be one of those wounds that sticks with a station for years to come.
