Meredith Station is Bleeding Viewers
Over the past year or so, FTVLive has done a lot of stories about Meredith owned WSMV in Nashville and most of them have not been good.
The station has made many embarrassing mistakes and can't seem to get out of its own way.
Well, it appears that FTVLive wasn't the only one who noticed that the station was subpar, the viewers did as well.
The Tennessean writes that the station lost between 10 percent and 20 percent of its news viewers in the 12 months ending May 23, according to ratings.
WSMV no longer is the solid No. 2 news station behind WTVF, a ranking that it has had for years, ratings show.
WSMV now finishes third in all newscasts except at 10 p.m., where it remains No. 2.
The drop in viewers comes during a tumultuous year for the NBC affiliate. The station lost a lot of on air talent and it was so bad the station fired their mascot snowbird.
WSMV laid off the actor who wore the penguin suit for more than 20 years, filling the suit now with interns or any staffer free to do so.
WSMV general manager Dale Woods did not respond to an email and phone calls asking for comment.
