WGN Staffers Mum About the Sinclair News
While many at WGN have been hoping that the Sinclair deal would not go through, they are still not talking about the latest developments.
Despite the fact that it appears the deal for Sinclair to acquire Tribune seems to be dead, the staff at WGN is still not talking.
Maybe they don't want to jinx it.
Robert Feder writes though many privately expressed relief that the FCC has derailed the $3.9 billion transaction, most declined to comment publicly.
One exception was WGN’s superstar meteorologist, Tom Skilling, who said: “I don’t know how final these latest developments are and want to be careful not to get out ahead on this. Ours is a very special television station and I work with an amazing group of people here. My hope is however this comes out that my fellow WGN employees feel secure and happy at the outcome.”
Sources tell FTVLive that when the news that the deal was dying, there was "more than one high five in the newsroom."
