Sinclair Swipes at NBC O&O....
Sinclair's WJAR (Providence) bragged about their ratings for the NBC affiliate and also used it as an opportunity to take a swipe at an NBC O&O.
In a press release WJAR claimed it was once again the most-watched television news station in the region and ranks among the top television stations in the nation in the recently completed May ratings period.
Then they added this paragraph as a not so subtle shot at WBTS the NBC O&O in Boston:
"WJAR also re-affirmed its position as New England’s NBC station. Head-to-head with NBC Boston, WJAR NBC 10 had more than double the households at 5:00pm and 6:00pm, despite the Boston market being more than four times the size of Providence/New Bedford."
Hey, we're all for taking a swipe at the competition, but when you start swinging at a fellow NBC affiliate that's not even in your market, that might be a bit of a cheap shot.
Then again, this is Sinclair we are talking about.
Here's the story that WJAR posted taking a swipe at the mothership.
