Former San Diego Anchor is Dead

Cathy Clark, who spent 27 years as a San Diego Anchor and Reporter died Yesterday after a battle with cancer. 

“She could cover any story with unbelieveable straight-shooting clarity and insight," said Laura Buxton, also a longtime local television anchor and reporter, who had known Clark for more than 40 years.

“She was irreverent before it became kind of cool. She was brilliant,” Buxton said of Clark, whom she referred to as her best friend. “I was dazzled by her intelligence and insight.”

After college, Clark took a job at KFMB in 1972, working as a reporter and anchor for seven years, according to her LinkedIn page.

In 1979, Clark jumped to KNSD and spent 10 years as a reporter and anchor.

In 1990, she moved to KUSI, where she anchored the 10 p.m. newscast. She left in January 2000.

Clark was 69 years old.
