Signing Off in the Panhandle
Longtime WMBB Weather Anchor Jerry Tabatt retired Sunday after almost 30 years at the station.
Tabatt said he needed to take care of his wife, Norma, who suffered serious medical problems in December.
"She needs me. I need to be there with her," he said.
Tabatt has been in the Panama City area since 1979. He started work at WMBB in 1989 as the Weekend Weatherman and was promoted to Chief Meteorologist in 1993 and since June, 2009 holds the position of Senior Meteorologist and Community Outreach Coordinator.
He and his wife Norma are staff for Warrior Beach Retreat. Jerry also serves as vice president of Panhandle CrimeStoppers.
"I love every one of you guys out there," Tabatt said. "I'll be around."
