Former WECT (Wilmington) Chief Meteorologist George Elliott was injured in a hit-and-run while riding his bicycle Thursday morning.

According to Wilmington Police officials, Elliott was struck by a dark in color SUV in the 3600 block of College road shortly after 5:30 a.m.

Elliott suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries and was taken to New Hanover Regional Medical Center, the WPD stated.

Elliott spent 14 years at WECT.
