Sinclair to Sell Stations.....But...
Sinclair released a list of many of the stations that they are selling in order to get their deal done with Tribune and approved.
It should be noted that while the list makes it appear that Sinclair has sold a bunch of stations, the details are in the fine print.
If you look, you see that Sinclair has agreed to sell WGN in Chicago to a company named, "WGN-TV LLC."
On the surface, you might think that is great news, WGN will not be owned by the evil empire after all. But, you see that little (2) after the buyer's name? That sends you to the footnotes and it is there that you learn that WGN will be run by Sinclair. In others words, the "sale" of the station is just a sham to get the Tribune deal approved, Sinclair will still run the station.
The same thing with all the other stations marked with a (3).
As for the "TBA" stations, a number of those will be purchased by Fox Television, as FTVLive FIRST told you.
Here is the list and here is a link to the memo sent out to Tribune employees.
