FTVLive was the FIRST to tell you (by months) that NBC Boston was going to part ways with News Director Kenny Plotnik. 

On Saturday, NBC Boston General Manager Michael St. Peter sent a memo to the news staff saying that there is no "acting News Director" and that for the time being, he is running the newsroom.

Good Saturday afternoon, everyone, and happy Marathon weekend!  

Congratulations to our station’s runners in this morning’s 5K (Americo and Meg) and best of luck to those running on Monday (Sarah, Caroline and Eli). 

Just a quick word on the News Leadership transition that is now underway.

First, beginning Monday, I will be assuming overall responsibility for the News Department (there won’t be an Acting News Director).  Our news management team will continue to operate as they have been in their various roles handling the day-to-day mechanics of the newsroom from news gathering to presentation. I will be counting on Bill and Damaris in their senior positions to deal with most key issues.  You should also feel free to come to me with any issues/concerns. I will be dividing my time between the newsroom and fulfilling my other regular obligations. 

We should not allow this transition to keep us from moving forward on all fronts.

Secondly, a word on the search for a new VP/News.  This is an open search and I already have a selection of solid candidates.   My goal is that we have a new captain onboard without much delay. I will keep you updated on the progress.

On Tuesday, I will have newsroom meetings in the morning and afternoon to discuss the interim period and answer any questions. Exact time TBA. 

I know that there is a level of uncertainty for you at this moment but my plan is to keep things stable - and to find a leader that can take us to the next level.
