Univision Continues to Cut Staff
In the past two months, Univision has sacked nearly 200 people and yesterday was a bloody Thursday for the company.
Around 150 of those 200 people were sent packing yesterday and word is that a number of those pink-slipped came from the digital side.
The Information writes that the cuts suggest Univision is retreating from its lavish plunge into digital media in recent years, which saw it buy up online properties like The Onion and the Gawker group of sites. The company is still carrying billions in debt left over from its leveraged buyout a decade ago.
NAHJ has told anyone that has been laid off, they get a free membership to NAHJ for a year and free admission to the group's conference in Miami in July (FTVLive plans on attending).
