How Much Did That Cost?

This was the headline posted to WCVB's (Boston) website:

Now remember, it cost money to submit every entry. It costs between $70 and $300 bucks just to put in an entry.

So let's say that the average is about $150 bucks per entry and WCVB has 61 nominations.

61x150=$9150 and that is just for the stories that won a nomination. So, it is a good bet that WCVB spent well north of $10,000 dollars to enter the Emmy's this year.

Of course, then the station will buy a couple of tables for the awards and after it is all said and done, they could almost spent enough money to hire another body in the newsroom.

FTVLive was on the phone with a Emmy judge just this week. They called us up and while talking to us, the person was "judging" Emmy submissions on their computer. The person were barely paying attention to the submission as they chatted away on the phone. All that for $150 bucks?

I'm sorry, but this is not money well spent.

Just saying...
