Really Scripps?

Yesterday Scripps sent out a press released touting the fact that they have created another level in the corporate offices.

The company announced that they have hired Frank Friedman in the newly created role of vice president of consumer engagement for Local Media, whatever the hell that means?

A number of people working at Scripps stations did not take well to the announcement of another suit in the corporate offices.

Scripps has just gotten down with a large number of layoffs at local stations and now they are making up a high paid position back at corporate.

"Cutting newsroom positions then creating a new, vaguely defined, Vice President of Consumer Engagement of Local Media," said one Scripps staffer to FTVLive.

To be honest, we just miss the days when the News Director was the News Director and not the Content Manager of Digital Space and Multi Media, or whatever title they give the ND now.

As for the Friedman's new role as the vice president of consumer engagement for Local Media, we have no clue what he will be doing, but you can bet he will be doing one thing.

Cashing a big paycheck.

I'm sure that the Scripps people that have been laid off can really appreciate this.

Maybe not.
