Catching Up with the Gay Gringo

Last time we told you about former KVIA (El Paso) Weather Anchor Stephen Decatur he was pimping his gay porn website.

Now, Decatur practically begged FTVLive to do a follow up on him, because you know, attention whore.

The former weather anchor turned gay bar dancer decided to throw his former co-workers under the bus along with the TV news business as a whole.

In a social media post, Decatur wrote:

On January 1st, 2017 I told my boss via text, “I quit”. It was totally unexpected - not me wanting to quit - but rather, the fact that I actually did it. A few days later, I was dancing on the bar at Touch Bar & Nightclub in El Paso, Texas. But how does a TV Meteorologist go from a family friendly TV personality to a raunchy gay bar trophy boy? Well, it’s pretty fucking easy.

After two years in the TV business, I was on the verge of a major mental breakdown. I (like everyone else in the business) was overworked, underappreciated and underpaid. With a history of depression, it was really taking a toll on my mental health. I really wanted to make a difference, and I was, but local TV has become more about ads and revenue, then about stories that actually will help people, so it’s an uphill battle. This battle was really taking a toll on my mind and body. I would come home and burst into tears on a weekly basis. The only solace I found was knowing that my co-workers felt the same, so at least I knew I wasn’t crazy. Then I finally snapped.

The GM, is (y'all my mother always said if you can’t say anything nice don’t say anything at all, so the rest of this sentence is going to be blank) ____________. On January 1st, 2017 he barraged my phone with angry texts during the newscast because I ‘did not issue a ‘First Alert’ when it stormed badly at his house thirty minutes prior’. I attempted to explain to him that there were no warnings, no reports of damage, just some brief heavy rain, that had happened to happen over his house, but it was to avail. In typical fashion, if it impacted him, we had to make it a big deal. And that was the final straw. Just because you own the station, doesn’t mean the news is about you! Grow up. I was tired of working for a ____________________, so I quit.

Now I don’t want you to think I quit solely because of one person, I mean the News Director was a total ______, the main anchor was a straight up ______, and the other main anchor was the laziest journalist I’ve ever met (I hope he reads this and actually tries to do something with some integrity for once). Everyone else, they were wonderful, arguably the best people on the planet, and I know they will go far. But back to the topic at hand. I quit.

Yes, the GM was my breaking point, and yes, anchor 1 is a _____, but long-term the outlook is bleak. Young people don’t watch TV anymore, so viewership is hardly increasing. The pay is awful and not getting any better, and even if you make it to a big city, the hours NEVER get better. Pair that with stressful deadlines, and life in the spotlight; which I realize may sound nice to some of you, but in reality, it’s like being at work 24/7, in the words of Laganja Estranja, “this is just too fucking much!”

He goes on to talk about what he's doing now, which is dancing in a gay club in Denver and going to school.

As for his old station? KVIA General Manager Kevin Lovell released the following statement to El Paso 411: “Stephen Decatur was employed at KVIA for about six months and left employment a little more than a year ago. We have no comment on whatever he is doing now.”

One thing is for certain, this business is a lot better off without this idiot in it.
