From MeToo to Just Me

When Fox News fired Gretchen Carlson she opened the door to the MeToo movement and massive changes have happened at Fox News.

Fox News insiders say the company is no longer run on fear and is a much better place to work.

As for Carlson, she has gone from MeToo to all about me.

When she wrote her book, “Be Fierce” she donned her leather jacket and criss crossed the country promoting it.

Since this was about sexual harassment in a TV newsroom, we thought that Carlson would be a good guest to talk to on the FTVLive podcast. We thought that she could offer up advice to people working on TV news and maybe help them out.

FTVLive reaches more people working on local TV newsrooms than anyone else, it seemed like a perfect avenue.

But, as we exchanged messages with Carlson, it seemed clear to us that she was much more about herself than other people. We looked at Carlson has a hero for what she did, but the more we talked with her the clearer it became that she was not about MeToo, she was more about just me.

So, it came as no surprise that when we saw a story in the New York Post yesterday about how the Miss American Pageant (Which Carlson now heads up) is in a crisis mode.

Atlantic City came out saying that they no longer want to pageant and will no longer pay the big bucks that Miss America was demanding from them to host it.

“The Miss America Organization is interviewing cities to partner with Miss America 2.0 as it prepares to celebrate its 100th anniversary,” reads a Request for Proposal for the 2020 and 2021 Miss America competition obtained by the newspaper.

The organization wants the new host city to cough up between $2.5 million and $4.9 million to stage the pageant, plus another $325,000 for other expenses.

Oh and one more thing….

They will also need to put Miss America chairwoman Gretchen Carlson up in a presidential suite.

Like we said, it is all about me.
