Sounds Like an Assignment Editor
For some reason TV stations seem to have decided that the job titles that we are all used to should be changed.
Many stations are no longer hiring “News Directors” and instead are hiring “Director of Content.”
Now, it appears that the “Assignment Editor” job is also headed for the scrap heap and will now be replaced by “Manager of Coverage and Content.”

It sounds like what an Assignment Editor does, but that’s not the title.
One thing in the job ad that did throw us off a bit, it says that the Manager of Coverage and Content will will report directly to the News Director.
But, shouldn’t that person be the “Director of Content”? ‘
