All About Me, CA Fires, Edition
The California fires have become the deadliest and most destructive in the state’s history.
So, it should come as no surprise that some journalists are making it about them.
For example, KTLA-TV’s Ginger Chan had to come in at 3am, one day! Can you believe it? Here’s her tweet:
We feel sorry for Ginger, especially given she has to endure the long hours in a studio, while firefighters, police, paramedics, nurses, doctors, etc., are sucking in toxic fumes and risking their lives to save people.
At the LA Times, reporter Chris Megerian is feeling bad for some of the reporters that have been up for 37 hours covering the wildfires and the Thousand Oaks shooting:
Come on, people! This is journalism, not brain surgery. Can there be long hours? Yes. Should you talk about it as if the world should feel sorry for you while people are dying and houses burned to the ground? Definitely not.
