Scripps Makes Big Cuts (Updated)
It hasn't taken new CEO Adam Symson long to put his mark on the company. Apparently, he thinks the corporate staff is bloated and sources say he's cutting as many as 30 positions.
Two years after being elevated to VP of TV, Debbie Turner quietly went away at the end of the year. With the 'promotion' of senior news strategist Lana Durban from corporate to GM at WRTV, sources say her position will not be filled. Also, formerly known as senior news strategists, Cameryn Beck will handle stations west and Bill Siegel, east. Their new titles? Senior Director of Content Strategy (big difference, eh?).
Scripps reportedly will no longer be recruiting talent at the corporate level. Instead, they'll leave that to individual stations. Sources say that Matt Miller, who recruited talent, will now focus entirely on recruiting managers. Two other senior recruitment positions have been eliminated.
VP & Regional GM, Steve Wasserman retired at the end of the 2017. So far, no replacement.
It looks like the suits are getting sent to the cleaners.
Update: Katherine Green contacted FTVLive and says that she is still at Scripps and no one has said otherwise. An earlier version of this story said she was gone. This is one time where we can say, "The Intern did it" as they wrote the story. We apologize for the error.
