Lexington Station to Drop Newscast
Remember when the campaign dollars were there for the taking and TV stations were launching new newscasts, just so they would have more rooms for ads?
Well now the election is over (although someone should tell Donald Trump) and that extra news that "viewers were requesting" is no longer much of a priority.
So, WLEX in Lexington is pulling the plug on their 4PM newscast.
The station says the newscast is being pulled and will be replaced by syndicated programming.
“There’s just a realization that there’s a lot of newscasts that are on in this market, and we want to put our resources into the newscasts we want, and more resources into our digital operation,” station manager Pat Dalbey said.
Local TV watchers “have got plenty of choices,” Dalbey said. “We’re going to make sure that what they watch on us is the best we can make it.”
So funny in non-election years, how the narrative changes so much.
