Out in the Field
Sources are telling FTVLive that longtime WVIT Chief Meteorologist Brad Field is gone from the station.
Field has been at the station since 1983 and insiders say he returned to work from vacation, was called into the boss's office and walked out of the building a short time later.
"They told us he's retiring, like we're supposed to believe that," said one NBC CT staffer to FTVLive.
Prior to joining the NBC Connecticut team, Field worked in Providence, Rhode Island, where he was a meteorologist at WLNE for three years.
The Laurel writes, Brad Field walked into the station and announced his retirement. Many on the NBC CT news team were “shocked” by the news that was delivered in an email from Field, but the email also reveals Field has been working with management on a plan to retire this summer. By way of explanation Field told his co-workers it is “time to enjoy the fruits of a career of which I am immensely proud.”
No one at the station is buying this as a retirement. "No one goes on vacation, comes back, "retires" and then leaves the station without going on air," said an insider.
Sources tell FTVLive that Field was fired and we have a pretty good reason as to why that is? FTVLive has come across some messages that Field supposedly sent privately on social media. We are looking more into this and will update you when we can.
But, in a business that is supposed to report the news accurately and fairly, it appears that WVIT is trying to pull the wool over viewers eyes in regards to their Chief Meteorologist leaving.
