Cops Looking For Man That Attacked Reporter
A WLOS (Asheville) Reporter was streaming video from his phone of a protest when he was attacked and now police are trying to identify the man that did the attack.
On Sunday, the WLOS Reporter was streaming to Facebook Live with demonstrators chanting, “No Trump, no KKK, no fascist USA.” There were many signs, some that said, “Love is the answer.”
Well, not everyone was feeling the "love".
As the Reporter walked through the crowd, a man aggressively approached him.
Reporter: “I am a reporter with WLOS. I am doing a Facebook live right now.”
The man then begins to shove him.
Reporter: “Dude, you need to get your hands off of me. Do not touch me,”
Man: “I will F--- you up.”
Other people then told him he can’t say that, and that his behavior was “just not good,” and they encouraged the man to calm down.
The reporter walked through the crowd to the other side of the street where he continues to be stream live on Facebook.
The reporter then turned the camera back toward the demonstrators as the man stormed through the crowd toward him.
Reporter: “Dude, get away from me.”
Man: “You should walk away.”
Reporter: “I am a reporter with WLOS.”
Man: “I don’t care who the f--- you are. Move. Where’s you f--- camera crew? Walk the f--- off the block. Move it”
Reporter: “Dude, seriously, get away from me. I will go get a police officer.
Man: “Go get a police officer.”
Reporter: “Get away from me.”
Man: “Do it, dude, move it.”
Reporter: “Get away from me. Get off me. Don’t touch me.”
Man: “You got some f--- skills? (Unintelligible comment.)”
Reporter: “Do not touch me.”
Man: (Expletives.) Take a f--- walk.”
Reporter: “Get away from me. Youi followed me across this whole area. I’m literally a reporter for WLOS.”
Man: “Put your camera down.”
Reporter: “Do not touch me. That’s the last time I am going to tell you. Do not touch me.”
Man: “I dare you to …”
Reporter: “Dare me to what? Get away from me.”
Another man then told the aggressive man to not look at the reporter and just face the other way. The man continued to curse at the reporter, who said, “You’re literally on camera assaulting me. You’re literally on camera assaulting me. So good luck with that.”
The man then walked off, continuing to curse at the reporter who walked over to a police officer. The reporter then asked the officer if he saw the man repeatedly assaulting him and he tells the officer he recorded the assaults and then described the man.
The reporter and two officers scanned the crowd, but were unable to locate the assailant.
