Which News Director is making $350,000 a Year?
This might come as a surprise to you, but according to the RTDNA, TV news salaries are up this year.
Now, many of you might be reading this saying, not my salary, but it appears you are in the minority.
The latest RTDNA/Hofstra University Annual Survey found that local television news salaries rose by 4% in 2016. That's a bit less than last year’s 4.8%, but still almost double the level of inflation in 2016: 2.1%.
That means TV news salaries gained 1.9% purchasing power this past year… on top of the previous year’s 3.5% net increase. A big improvement over the last few earlier years.
The RTDNA breaks down the pay by positions in the newsroom and it also listed the highest paid salary per position.
There is one News Director that is making $350,000 bucks a year, which is a hell of a lot more than I ever made as ND.
Some Deuce is making more than $200K.
The highest paid News Anchor is $500K, which is a bit surprising. It wasn't that long ago where big market Anchors will pulling in close to a million bucks.
The highest paid Producer is making $130,000 and the top EP is pulling in $165K.
An MMJ making $150K? We bet it's not at a Nexstar station.
It might be time to march into the bosses office and demand a raise.
Hell if your ND is making $350,000 bucks, they can just peal off a couple of hundreds and give it to you right then and there.
