Can We Be Frank?
Kids today have no clue who Frank Magid is/or was?
Frank Magid died back in 2010, but he was the guy that basically introduced the world to "Action News." Frank N. Magid was also an original developer of Good Morning America.
But, Frank Magid made most of his money as a TV consultant and started the company Frank N. Magid and Associates.
The company has been called "Frank N. Magid and Associates" since it launched.
But now, Frank has been dead for 7+ years it it seems that the consultant is rebranding.
This is the way Frank N. Magid and Associates website looked in 2005. Notice that Frank's name sits proudly at the top of the site.
Then they re-did the site again around 2010 and it stayed that way for years. Again, Frank N. Magid is the first name you see.
And here is their new look Today.
Notice, there is no more "Frank" it's just Magid.
Not sure if they used a consultant when they decided to scrub "Frank N." from their branding, but it's a bit sad to see.
It's also a lesson, that no matter how big the company you built grows.....7 years after you die, no one will remember you or care.
I lift my glass of ice tea to you Frank N. Magid. You had visions for TV news and gave viewers a different kind of news to watch.
Now, we have Tegna's "Verify" reports and Sinclair's "Terrorism Alert Desk"....
Somewhere Frank N Magid is rolling over in his grave.
I miss the old days of TV news.
