Bumped Up in Duluth
The deuce is getting the main gig in Duluth.
KBJR Assistant News Director Kevin Jacobsen is being promoted to News Director for KBJR 6 and CBS 3 Duluth effective Aug. 14.
He will replace Barbara Reyelts, who will retire after 9 years as news director and 38 years at KBJR 6.
“We’re very pleased to have a veteran journalist with Kevin’s credentials to oversee operations for KBJR6 and CBS 3. Kevin spent years on the anchor desk for each station and most recently has honed his leadership skills as assistant news director and content manager in the news department,” said David Jensch, KBJR 6 and CBS 3 vice president/ station manager. “With Kevin at the helm, I’m confident each station will continue a longtime tradition of providing critical news, weather and sports on air and online 24 hours a day.”
Jacobsen previously anchored the morning news on KMEG-TV in Sioux City, Ia. He also worked as a reporter at News 12 Connecticut. Since arriving to Duluth in 2008, he has received multiple Upper Midwest Emmy nominations and Eric Sevareid awards for his work as a producer, reporter and his contributions to newscasts as an anchor. Jacobsen anchored the KBJR 6 News at 6 and 10 until June 2015, when he stepped behind the scenes as assistant news director.
