Overselling Sean
Fox News host Sean Hannity sent out a tweet yesterday, promising some big stuff, but in the end it was nothing but overhype.
Imagine that.
Hannity has been leading the charge that the murder of DNC staffer Seth Rich is part of a cover up because Hannity says it was Rich that leaked the DNC emails to Wikileaks. and not the Russians.
It is a conspiracy theory that many have shot down, but one that Hannity has been peddling louder then anyone.
Hannity's employer Fox News also has pushed the story, but not as loud and they back off yesterday. FNC Fox removed a story that used the same conspiracy theory about the murder of Rich.
The Rich family has been begging Fox News and Sean Hannity to stop spreading what they say is a false story.
But, Hannity knows you can not slander the dead and legally he can continue to spout his conspiracy theory with not much fear of legal recourse.
But, when Fox News backed off the story, it left Hannity sitting out on an island. So, Hannity kind of sort of backed off the story as well. But, he did so in a Sean Hannity way. Saying:
“All you in the liberal media, I am not Fox.com or FoxNews.com, I retracted nothing,” Hannity said on his radio show Tuesday afternoon.
“For those accusing me of pushing a conspiracy theory, you are the biggest phony hypocrites in the world,” he said…
“If in fact, take Seth out of it, there was a whistleblower within the DNC, a truth-teller that actually was the source for WikiLeaks, and not Russia working with the Trump campaign, these are questions that I have a moral obligation to ask and I will do the mainstream media’s job like I have most of my career,” Hannity said.
As for his future at Fox News?
If you were expecting some huge news, it didn't happen. Hannity said that he will stay at Fox News as long as they want him.
With O'Reilly gone, Hannity is now the face of Fox News and that is not a good thing. O'Reilly had more talent in his little finger than Hannity does in his whole body.
Fox News is watching their prime time ratings drop and Hannity's actions like this are killing the network's credibility.
A number of people inside Fox News tell FTVLive that they just wish that Hannity would be bounced like O'Reilly was.
But, at this point Fox News can't afford to do that and in the end, it might end up costing them even more.
