Fired Florida Anchor Resurfaces in Houston
Back in August of 2015, FTVLive told you that former WINK (Ft. Myers) Anchor Matthew Dougherty was suing the station after he said he was wrongly terminated.
Dougherty said in his lawsuit that WINK News fired him on July 27 because he would not destroy notes, video, photos and other information related to a story involving about 100 boxes of patient medical records found in an auctioned-off storage unit.
The case never went to trial and the two sides agreed to settle. The News Director named in the lawsuit was Russ Kilgore. He and the station parted ways back in March of 2016.
Well, it appears that after nearly tow years away from TV news, Dougherty is back on the job.
FTVLive spotted Dougherty doing a story for KHOU in Houston this week. He was reporting on a couple of murders in the Houston area and it is very likely he's happy to be working again on the other side of the Gulf of Mexico.
