Man to Plead Guilty to Assaulting News Crew
Back in October, FTVLive told you that a man had assaulted a news crew from WIVB in Buffalo.
Evan Stafford accosted Reporter Nick Quattrini and Photographer Melvin Barinas, while the two were working on a story in Niagara Falls.
Stafford demanded money and the TV camera.
Stafford admitted in court that he did the assault, telling a judge he was drunk at the time of the attack.
What happened? the judge asked.
"I was impaired, so I'm not quite sure," Stafford responded.
Barinas suffered a concussion, a fractured orbital bone, a bloody nose and a cut inside his mouth that required 15 stitches to close, Assistant District Attorney Doreen M. Hoffmann said. Barinas still suffers from impaired vision.
The judge could send Stafford to prison for as long as seven years.
Sentencing has been scheduled for a later date.
