Will Bill O'Reilly Return to Fox News?
Bill O'Reilly has left the building....
The bigger question....will he return?
The Fox News star went on vacation just as FNC's parent company 21st Century Fox has launched an investigation into the continued sexual harassment scandal that has consumed Fox News for the past 6+ months.
While O'Reilly is on vacation, the law firm Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison is investigating accusations made by Wendy Walsh, a former guest on Mr. O’Reilly’s show along with other claims.
Many working inside Fox News, tell FTVLive that what happens to O'Reilly will signal whether the network is serious or not, when it comes to dealing with sexual harassment claims?
If it's up to Fox News boss Bill Shine, O'Reilly's not going anywhere. The NY Times says that Shine is "is reputed to be a vigorous advocate for keeping Mr. O’Reilly on."
One Fox News staffer tells FTVLive, "of course Shine wants to keep O'Reilly, they're cut from the same cloth."
But, the decision to keep O'Reilly or not is above Shines pay grade. This comes down to the Murdochs.
The NY Times writes, The calculation on whether to keep O’Reilly is complex and rests in part on a generational divide between Rupert Murdoch, 86, who controls 21st Century Fox, and Lachlan, 45, and James, 44, who have top leadership positions at the company.
Rupert Murdoch, a cleareyed businessman whose priorities often are driven by the bottom line, has long backed O’Reilly as the Fox News host’s career has soared and pulled the network up along with him. The sons, while also business-minded, have worked to modernize the company’s workplace, which has been the target of repeated allegations of sexual harassment.
FTVLive talked to people inside Fox News and most think O'Reilly isn't going anywhere.
"He's going to get away with this," said one FNC staffer to FTVLive.
Last night was O'Reilly's first day of vacation and filling in for him was Dana Perino.
A woman filling in for Bill O'Reilly?
Hmmmmmm.....
