Verizon FIOS Under Fire

Verizon is facing a federal lawsuit that says it deceives its customers into paying $10/month for set-top boxes, they don't need. That works out to about $30 million per year.

The court filing says Verizon doesn't tell customers that they don't need the cable boxes to use their Quantum product and can get the service through Roku, Amazon Fire, Chromecast, etc. FIOS content can also be streamed using a customer's WiFi, but the lawsuit claims, Verizon doesn't tell them that.

Verizon says the suit has no merit. In the meantime, it appears about 140,000 customers are asking, "Can you hear me now?"
