Alex Jones Says Sorry....Is Ben Swann Next?
Alex Jones has done something he almost never does.
He said he was wrong and he was sorry.
Jones, the leader of the far right Info Wars, came out and said he was sorry for his comments in regards to "Pizzagate."
Mediaite writes that in a highly unusual six-minute video, Jones issued a direct apology to James Alefantis for promoting the rumor that he was running a child sex ring out the basement of his restaurant, Comet Ping Pong. The belief that Alefantis, his restaurant, and the alleged child sex ring were tied to former Clinton campaign chief, John Podesta subsequently become known as Pizzagate.
“I made comments about Mr. Alefantis that in hindsight I regret, and for which I apologize to him,” said Jones in his video, A Note to Our Listening, Viewing and Reading Audiences Concerning Pizzagate Coverage. “We relied on third-party accounts of alleged activities and conduct at the restaurant. We also relied on accounts of reporters who are no longer with us.”
The statement came after inquiries raised by Mr. Alefantis’s lawyers to the show.
“To my knowledge today, neither Mr. Alefantis nor his restaurant Comet Ping Pong, were involved in any human trafficking as was part of the theories about Pizzagate.”
So, now that Jones has said he was wrong, will WGCL (Atlanta) Anchor Ben Swann be next?
You may remember, back in January, FTVLive told you that Swann did a segment called "Reality Check" that seemed to be a long way from reality.
Swann went on the Meredith owned station, weeks after "Pizzagate" had been all but debunked and reported that it might be true.
After Swann's "report" he went missing from the air. At the time his station owner said this, "We are looking into this and don’t have a comment at this time," said Meredith Communications person Art Slusark.
In fact, Meredith must still be looking into it, because they still haven't made a comment. Swann returned to the air and as far as we know, also never commented on the "Pizzagate" story.
WGCL and Meredith just tried sweeping the story under the rug and hoped no one would notice.
That's where it will likely stay, unless pizza place owner James Alefantis's lawyers come calling to the Atlanta station like they did to Alex Jones.
If they do, then Meredith will finally be fored to respond to the story by one of their own. Something that they have never done and hoped would have been forgotten.
Now, the question is, will the lawyers care that a local Atlanta station made these comments or not?
We're betting that WGCL/Meredith is hoping they don't.
Stay tuned....
