Sorry Skippy....

The other day, FTVLive posted a story about WBBH Reporter/Anchor Lucas Seiler and his "all about me" post to social media showing off his new tattoo.

We said that stripping off your shirt to show your new tat, does not do well for your credibility as a Reporter.

Well, it seems that Seiler thinks there is nothing wrong with posting his shirtless pictures for the world to see and he has a problem with FTVLive.

He posted this to his Facebook page:

Whoa there Skippy....

First of all, why did we need to reach out to you? You posted a picture, we along with others thought it damaged your credibility as a Reporter and was stupid.

I don't care what the tattoo is, whether it's your college motto, or Daffy Duck. Our take was about another young TV Reporter yelling, "Look at me!"

Why was a call needed?

As a TV Anchor/Reporter you live in a glass bubble, what you post has an impact on how people look at you and look at your station. You can post whatever pictures you want, but the viewing public and FTVLive have every right to form their own opinion of you and what you post.

I have no clue how your work as an Anchor or Reporter is? You might be great at your job. But, when I showed you photo to 6 News Directors, told them you posted it on social media, all 6 said they would not hire you.

Does this mean you can't get hired in this business? Of course not, but I know 6 stations where you have no chance.

Now look, you want to post pictures of you without your shirt, go right ahead. Post one like this:

Or this:

Even this:

That:

And also this:

It's your page to do what you want. But, at some point you might ask yourself if you want to be a pin up model or a serious newsperson?

How many pictures did you see of Peter Jennings, Tom Brokaw, Ted Koppel or Chet Huntley without their shirts? How many pictures have you seen on Diane Sawyer or Jane Pauly in their bathing suit?

It's great that you are so proud of your school that you decided to ink their motto on your body. I wish J-school would have taught you a bit more.

Like I said Skippy, it's your social media page to post whatever pictures you want, but remember, whatever you do post is permanent, just like your new tattoo.
