Asking the Tough Questions ... But Sure As Hell Not Answering Them
The TV news media loves to brag about how they ask the tough questions, but when the shoe is on the other foot, they change the game.
FTVLive FIRST told you that Raycom owned WAFF in Huntsville laid off longtime Sports Anchor Scott Theisen.
We also told you that they ditched longtime News Anchor Mark Thornhill, but that Thornhill was not part of the layoffs.
Sounds like he was fired, but the station won't say.
Anyway, many viewers in Huntsville have been asking about these big-time departures at the station and posting questions and comments to the station's Facebook page.
Well, it appears that WAFF does not like being asked the tough questions and yesterday the station disabled the option for viewers to post comments directly to the WAFF facebook page. You can now only reply directly to stories on their page. Furthermore, you can no longer view what had been posted on their facebook page by the other users.
Yesterday, the page was filled with questions about Thornhill's absence (Each with a generic reply about how they can confirm that Mr. Thornhill is no longer employed by WAFF and they do not discuss personnel matters...).
"It's frustrating that when some Joe-Blow loses his job and media turns into an "exclusive investigation" yet an anchor who has been in the market for 30 years including 25 at the same station is no longer with the station, no explanation is given and no questions are to be asked," said a Huntsville viewer to FTVLive.
It appears when it comes to asking the tough questions, it's a one way street.
You just gots to love TV news.
