While trust in the media is at the lowest point in history, there is one group that people trust even less. 

Congress. 

So it makes you wonder why longtime WFAA Reporter Brett Shipp has resigned from his job to make a run for Congress? 

Shipp says he will run as a Democrat in a bid to oust Republican Pete Sessions from Texas' 32nd District.

His last day at the station was yesterday. 

"I absolutely have reached my threshold of tolerance for negative discourse, toxic politics and the lack of civility. I've had enough," Shipp told The Dallas Morning News. "I cannot sit back and do nothing."

"We are grateful for the many contributions Brett has made to WFAA and the field of journalism," said Carolyn Mungo WFAA's News Director.

Shipp has been an Investigative Reporter at the Tegna station since 1995.
