WJLA Staffers Frozen Out of Sinclair Bonus as Well
Sinclair has been very public about handing out some of the money that their BFF Donald Trump helped give them when Congress approved huge tax cuts for the rich and big companies.
Sinclair said that they would be sharing a small amount of the tax cuts wither employees, by giving them each $1,000 and giving Trump a huge public thank you.
Yesterday, FTVLive told you that not everyone was cutting part of the money pie. Employees at KOMO that are repped by the union, which is currently in negotiations with the company, are getting left behind when it comes to collecting their thousand bucks.
Also, union employees at WJLA in Washington also will not be getting a piece of the Trump tax cuts.
The Baltimore Business Journal writes that employees covered by the collective bargaining agreements currently being negotiated are also excluded, according to an internal memo. That means many employees at WJLA in Washington and NewsChannel8 — including on-air reporters, photographers and cameramen — will not receive the bonuses.
One employee called Sinclair's move "cheap" and a "direct insult to employees for not pressuring their unions to cave" to the company's demands. Another Sinclair employee said he rolled his eyes when reading the memo and called it "bull" that Sinclair did not mention the exclusion of union employees in its press release.
"That's proof to me that they know it's a crap decision on their part," the employee said. "It's the latest benefit they are excluding the union from. Sinclair is asking us to move a mile when we are just asking them to move a foot."
Sinclair did not respond to a request for comment.
